FINAL (ENDS OF ESP COURSE) SELF-ASSESSMENT

WRITING SUMARIES.
It was one of the hardest tasks in English course. I think that I have not put as much effort into learning to write summaries better as I could have. The problem is that I make many grammatical mistakes.

SPEAKING.

Speaking impromptu is one of the hardest parts of speaking. I think that I can not speak fluently enough because I lack knowledge of dictionary. I also have problems because I do not have enough time to think about the subject before speaking.

Short talks. I think that it is very useful and also easier than “speaking impromptu”. This is due to the possibility to get ready at home.

Power point presentations. This task requires a lot of time and effort, this is why it is not easy. I also dislike speaking in front of an audience, so this fact also complicates the situation.

LISTENING.

This part of the exam is one of the most interesting.  “Online listening in class” as well as “traditional listening to cassettes” are both beneficial. Of course sometimes it evokes problems to understand people speaking in different dialects.

ESP VOCABULARY.

Class test online. This one is quite hard as it is sometimes hard to remember all of the definitions. Most of them are quite hard, so I have to learn them all by heart, and it is sometimes hard to remember them when I need to.

Moodle tests. I liked this part, because I have an opportunity to do this at home. This is useful, because I can revise all of the definitions at home. While doing tests, I do not evade using a book.

 

Self-assessment

WRITING SKILLS
Summaries were quite difficult because it was not easy to systematize all the information from the texts. I think that ESP vocabulary tasks were easy, but sometimes it was not enough time to study for them. I think that is a good way to practise your knowledge of English words.

SPEAKING SKILLS
I think that I was not enough active in class discussions. I need to encourage my speaking skills. I did not like doing presentations, because I think it is not needful and takes a lot of time.

LISTENING SKILLS
I think I am not good enough in listening activities. Though native speakers sometimes made some difficulties to understand exercises. I am not to go a bundle on this activity.

READING SKILLS
I think that home reading texts were too long, so it was difficult to concentrate in them. It was not hard to understand it. I loved doing computer tasks, because there you can check your news.

You are how you wait: Queue Psychology

Summary

People spend much time waiting in lines. All that started during World Wars I and II. At first in Britain, then soread in other countries: United States, Canada and parts of Europe.

In europe, people spend much time in banks and railroad stations lines. There each serving counter have several queue.  United States changed this way of service. They created new ‚snake‘ line, which constructed by one single line.

The differnce is not efficiency. Multi-server system is good because people could do they business faster than other clients.

Researcher Jacob Hornik proved that large influence compel people to believe. This analysis showed that the waiting period for people seem 30 percent longer than realy is. Another way to solve this problem is distraction. It was really effective, the waiting period become shorten.

Much discontent for customers give lines in airlines. It is very difficul žt wait in lines when people are tired after the flight.

That is not difficult to solve these problems. The luggage should be outfit on the other side of airplanes.

Dreams

All people dream. That improve experiments with people's sleep. And even 75 percent people, who are awakened from REM sleep, stated that then they are dreaming.

Mostly, people dreams compose of everyday events, such as going to supermarket, working at the office and other activities. For example, students dream about going to class or professors dream about lectures.

One of the famous researcher in this specific was Sigmund Freud. He proposed that dreams represent unconscious wishes that dreamers desire to see fulfilled. Also, he try to understand the meaning of dreams.

However, there is exclude one dream kind - daydreams. That is calling fantasies that people construct while awake. Their content is often more closely related to immediate events in the environment than is the content of the dreams that occur during sleep.

In conclusion, I would like to say that dreams permit information that is critical for our daily survival to be reconsidered and reprocessed during sleep.

Internet Psychology

Nowadays people use internet as a tool, to find information, communicate with their friends and family. Everybody use internet but not everyone knows that it has disadvantages.

To begin with, there are a lot of harmful information, which is very easy to find, for children. They can find a lot of inappropriate images which can harm their thinking and behaviour.

Secondly, people spend much time communicating in social networks which can harm their behaviour in real life.

What is more, there is always a risk to become a victim of bad people who want to take your money.

And finally, people can spend too much time on the internet this affects their social life.

All in all, despite all the bad things, internet has much more possitive things. And we can not imagine our lifes without internet, so use it carefully.

The mystery of memory

Summary

The memory process was analyze a lot of years. Before anything psychologists established that memory was form from two skills: short term and long term memories.

Objects, which fall into `working memory` from longer term memory was calling remembering. Second fact, the difference between procedural and declarative memories is that latter remember for people how concrete thing look like or other type helps to remember how use with various things.

Memory development was achieve with different games.Also,  children have a good photographic memory but often when they grow up this ability dissapear.

To improve memory people should have associate ideas with some ivents or person. Also, people could use various strategy, which help them to make better memory.

In conclusion, all researchers hope that in future people get to know more about memory speciality.
